About Me

Cameraman, editor, producer, video-journalist, drone operator, teacher and mentor for CNN, BBC, Reuters, APTN, CTGN, Al Jazeera English, Arte TV, UN, WHO.

Home in two continents. Influenced by escape, roots in Spain and Moroccan Berbers, born in, Algeria, grown up in Brussels. Right after my studies of cinematography at INSAS school in Brussels in the early nineties I was drawn as a cameraman to Iraq. Since then, I have documented wars, natural disasters, epidemics, revolutions, guerillas, criminals, IS-fighters and background stories in Africa, Middle East, Balkans, South of Asia, Ukraine. I learned to follow my instinct, survived bullets in my chest, faced and covered Ebola and rebels in the jungle. I got specialised in hard news and shot also regularly documentaries, re-enactments, investigative features and corporates.

I believe in the power of images. With my work I want to give a voice to those who are in a position of hardship, in places where sometimes few of us can't or want to go, to witness their tragedies unfolding. I want to tell their stories, document history changes, raise questions. Why do people fight each other, big politics as well as individual people, what is the truth between the lines and the cultures, how do history change or natural disaster affect human mankind. My divers cultural background by speaking seven languages (French, Arab mother tongue, English, Spanish, Berber Fluently, Italian, Dutch good) help me to move between the fronts and perspectives, trying to get close to people on the trail of truth.
